Using a fire and ice glyph combination, she can conjure up a thick mist, combined with pollen from sleeping nettle flowers that will create a sleeping-induced smoke, forcing Kikimora and her dragon to land. The Golden Guard is impressed by Luz's knowledge and compares Luz's glyph magic to the elemental magic once used during the Savage Ages. Just as he is about to talk about his knowledge of wild magic, the Golden Guard stops himself, knowing that such magic is restricted by the Emperor. Luz then asks why the Golden Guard wanted to join the Emperor's Coven, and he reveals to her that he's a powerless witch who was taken in by the Emperor and had his entire future planned out.

Hunter wakes up, with his magenta eyes now brown, and reveals he knows of Flapjack's sacrifice. As the portal closes, Luz reveals that she helped Belos meet the Collector, but Hunter and the others do not blame her. Everyone, except Vee, heads to the Demon Realm, with him being the first to cross. He, King, and the other teenagers fly to the head where they disable the Abomatons by the Coven Heads and he checks on Darius. When Belos sees him, he pleads with Hunter to not attack him, but becomes enraged upon seeing Flapjack.
After Camila Noceda welcomes him and the others into her home, he talks privately with Luz, and they discuss how the others would react upon learning their secrets. After filling Camila in on what happened in the Demon Realm, she allows them to stay as long as they need. As the days turn into weeks, he and the others attempt to create a portal, however, all their attempts end up in failure. Privately, Hunter conducts research into the witch hunting history of Gravesfield. One day, he looks at himself in the mirror and is startled because of his shoulder length hair, with it reminding him of both the man he is a clone of and Belos.

When he believes Belos is back, he promised Flapjack he would never allow the little bird to get hurt. After Belos, while possessing him, grievously injured Flapjack, Hunter regained control. Caleb Wittebane is the human that Hunter, like the previous Golden Guards, was cloned from as a grimwalker by Emperor Belos. Because Caleb's death occured centuries prior to Hunter's creation, the two have never met. After becoming stranded on the Human Realm, Hunter and the others are offered shelter at Luz's house by Camila. He is thankful for her hospitality and tries to repay her though cooking and sewing.
Luz muses that the Golden Guard had his future planned for him, but he is envious of her freedom and ability to decide her own future. During this time, Flapjack, a cardinal palisman, takes interest in the Golden Guard, but the guard is apprehensive and sees the creature as dangerous due to the fact that it is made of wild magic. In "Watching and Dreaming", Hunter and everyone gets captured and controlled to scare Luz, after waking up Hunter and everyone tell Luz how to stop this nightmare. The gang is in puppet form until Amity carves a glyph that breaks the spell. Camila tell them to protect the transformed people while Luz and the rest fight Belos.
During Alador and Odalia's fight, Kikimora grabs Hunter and manages to escape with him, but it turns out Luz had Gus switch her place with Hunter's, who was confused and didn't know what was going on, and Gus tells him and everyone that Luz wanted to protect Hunter, knowing that Kikimora would try and take him away. Luz tricks The Golden Guard into believing she has done so using plant and light glyphs to resemble the creature and then takes off, stating that Emperor Belos is not a forgiving man. In "Hunting Palismen", Flapjack took a liking to Hunter while he saw the red-colored bird as just another palisman for his uncle, but after spending time with both Flapjack and Luz, Hunter began to act nice towards him. When the bird came to him later, Hunter told the palisman (who he previously called "bird") to leave before Belos could see him, knowing the fate that befell any palisman his uncle got his hands on, but was surprised when Flapjack instead picked him to be his bounded witch by turning into a staff in front of him. They find Willow, who has been recently mocked by Boscha, struggling to control her magic as the boys are ensnared in vines.
She later attempts to kidnap him after her demotion to give to Belos, believing that this will return her to her previous position or perhaps even cause her to become the Emporer's new right-hand. She appears to be jealous of the Golden Guard, thinking Emperor Belos favors him over her. In "Hunting Palismen", she sabotages Hunter's mission and attempts to kill him. She thinks she succeeded, and is surprised to bump into him still alive later. The two appear to be at odds with each other, both trying to prove that they're useful for Emperor Belos.
Flapjack's death had caused Hunter to seek revenge on Belos as Hunter continuously wanted to find and eradicate Belos for what he did and avenge Flapjack. He later discovered that he inherited Flapjack's powers and eventually erected a memorial to honor Flapjack for helping him find his own path. The two worked together, along with Willow and Gus, to free Amity and her siblings. Before facing off against Odalia and Kikimora, Luz has Gus create an illusion to make her and him switch appearances so that she would be taken to Belos instead of him. At the end of the episode when the truth was revealed, Hunter was expressively worried and apologized, saying that it all happened so fast and he didn't realize what was happening until she was gone. After the others arrive in the Demon Realm, he urges them to get moving so they can find Belos.
The two eventually have a heart-to-heart chat about each other's magical capabilities, and Hunter reveals his backstory to the girl. Luz eventually trusts Hunter enough to hand back his staff, but is later betrayed when Hunter turns it against her. Luz is emotionally hurt, telling Hunter that he is not her friend as he is just "The Golden Guard". Hunter then reveals his name to her, and defends her from Kikimora when she starts attacking them, allowing Luz to get away safely with the palismen. They are shown to have a complicated and abusive relationship, as Emperor Belos aggressively clutches the boy's shoulder in "Hunting Palismen", and later misses hitting Hunter's cheek by a tendril, after Hunter fails his mission to capture palismen and speaks of healing Emperor Belos' curse with wild magic. It appears as though the Emperor set a fear of wild magic into Hunter, as he is wary of Flapjack when the cardinal palisman touches him.
When Belos possesses the Titan's heart and infects the Boiling Isles, Luz sacrifices her life to save the Collector, who becomes remorseful while realizing the fragility and value of life. After Luz is restored to life by a repentant Titan, the Collector helps keep her friends and the Archive House safe, and is shown gratitude by Amity once Belos is defeated and destroyed. After restoring everyone under his spell, the Collector decides to return to the stars to do some "growing up", but is encouraged by King to revisit the Isles in the future. He also creates a permanent portal between the Human and Demon Realms for Luz, and returns to put on a light show for her "King-ceañera" party.
Later, in "Eclipse Lake", Kikimora tries to find Titan's Blood as fast as possible, constantly paranoid about Hunter ruining her plans and stealing her work in the mine tunnels. Hunter becoming increasingly frustrated after seeing the red bird that reminds him of Flapjack. He is described as looking sickly by Emira in "Labyrinth Runners", though this may have been a result of his living conditions at the time.
